This guide will tell you what Ubuntu is, and why to use Ubuntu.
What is Ubuntu?
Ubuntu is a Linux distribution, and a free, light, fast and open-source operating system. The Ubuntu logo, as you can see, is three people holding hands in a circle. If you ask me, I think that it symbolizes the connection between people, that Ubuntu brings people together. Ubuntu is an African word, and means ‘Humanity to others’. As mentioned before, Ubuntu is free and can be downloaded through this link:
The only thing you have to do now is to download it and burn it to a disk, you only need a 700MB disk, and install it. Before you install, you can try Ubuntu from the disk, which means that you don’t save anything on your PC, so you erased don’t hard disk and can return it to your windows or mac.
Why Ubuntu?
The first and best reason to use Ubuntu is that it is free. Ubuntu is also lighter and faster than Windows, and have more driver available. For you who didn’t know, drivers are needed for your graphic card and other equipment on your PC. You can also customize Ubuntu more than windows or mac. You can even get it to look like windows or mac. But there is one really big positive surprise in Ubuntu, you can have 9 desktops, so you have a lot of workspaces. Ubuntu also has a ‘Software center’ where you can install/uninstall programs, so it is easy to choose your programs. Ubuntu is the best operating system I have ever had, and if I ever should change my operating system, it should still be Linux.
